News and Latest Developments


By Oct 31, NACEF had received a total donation of over $15,000 from more than 100 donors across the country. We would like to express our sincerest thanks to all of the donors! We wish to get continuous support from all of those who care for a better China!

NACEF sent the second batch of $8,600 to CYDF on Oct 22. It is for the sponsorship of 172 kids in the China Flood areas. NACEF will inform each donor of the information regarding to the kids he/she sponsored after CYDF made the matching assignment.

NACEF sent the first batch of $4,360 to the China Youth Development Foundation in late June. CYDF has assigned 86 kids for the donors. All the donors had received the information regarding the kids they sponsored by the middle of October.

We would like to express our special thanks to the Association of Chinese Students and Scholars of the University of Wisconsin at Madison. They donated the a total of $1886.40 to NACEF early October. They collected this amount of money from the local Chinese society for the flood relief fundraiser. They would like to support about 40 kids in the flood area. This is also the largest amount of donation that NACEF has received.

On Jun 6, 16 students from Stanford and Berkeley attended the 7th annual Committee of 100 conference in Santa Clara. It is such a great success for the Project Hope event! Chinese Ambassador Mr. Zhaoxing Li and a lot of famous Chinese Americans in the Committee of 100 signed for our event and showed their support to us!

After we announced NACEF on newspapers and Internet since May 16, we had received over $3,500 donation from donors in US by May 30! We would like to salute to all these kind donors! Every donor will receive a receipt and a thank you letter from NACEF.

We proudly announced the North American Chinese Educational Foundation (NACEF) on May 16, 1998. The purpose of NACEF is to process donations received by the fund raising event. Donors to NACEF will be able to deduct the U.S. income tax for the part of their donation.

Great Achievements of Project Hope over 8 years

On Mar 17 and Feb 24, the World Daily published the news about the Event in Eastern U.S and Western U.S respectively.

On Mar 5, the Chinese People's Daily Overseas Edition published the news about the Auditing of Project Hope.

On Mar 3, China's Xin Hua News Agency published the news about the Event.

We announced the official logo for this Event on Feb 17, 1998. The logo was designed by the chief computer artist of the Project Hope Web Team in US, Mr. Chi-Man Lam. You are welcome to use our logo and link to our homepage.

On Jan 24, one of the largest Chinese Newspaper in U.S., the World Daily published the news about China Project Hope-Fund Raising in North America '98 and called on people to help Project Hope.

The first donor for the Event is Prof. Steve Chu, the winner of the 1997 Nobel Prize for Physics. Prof. Chu is the fifth person with the Chinese decendency that won Nobel Prize. Prof. Chu made his donation immediately after he heard of the Event on Jan 9, 1998.
